Today, I’d like to tell you a story. It’s about a rich man named Percy Ross. (Bb Percy Ross) He is a successful businessman. (Bb successful and businessman) He receives many letters every week, and he sends money to some of the people who need money. (Bb receive and send) And he also has a newspaper column. (Bb column). He chooses three of four letters and answer them in his column.
Help Ss to paraphrase the new words on the blackboard, and learn the right pronounciation.
Ok, this is a part of this story. Do you think Mr Ross is a little strange? Why does he give people money? Please read the story fast and try to find the main reason.

Step4 Read and answer
Next, let’s read the story again, this time, you have two tasks.
1. Listen and read after the tape in a low voice, try to read the new words on the Bb correctly.
2. Answer the following questions.
(1). Who gets money from Mr. Ross?
(2). Who doesn’t get money from Mr. Ross?
(3). In the examples, who gets money and who doesn’t?

2. Ss read and discuss in groups of three or four, try to divide the story into four parts, and give the main idea of each part.

Part 3 6 Young, healthy people can’t get money from Mr. Ross.

Prepare some pieces of paper written A1, B1, C1/A2, B2, C2/…
A You are a poor person(a child/an old man/a worker…). You need money to buy some food and clothes or other things. You will talk to Mr. Ross and ask for money. You should tell the reason(理由) why you need money.
B You are a young healthy person, you have a well paid job(待遇高的工作). Maybe you are a boss/a businessman/… And you want more money. You will talk to Mr. Ross and ask for money. You should tell the reason(理由) why you need money.
C You are Mr. Ross, the rich successful businessman. A1 and B1 will talk to you and ask for money. You should make a decision whether you will give him or her money and tell them the reason.
Make a short dialogue happened in these three people. A and B should tell the reason(理由) why you need money. C is Mr. Ross. You should make a decision whether you will give him or her money and tell them the reason. Don’t forget to introduce yourselves before your dialogues.
Step 7 Discussion
What do you think of Mr. Ross? If you have so much money, what will you do to help poor people?
Step 8 Writing
After our discussion let’s write down somethin about our topic.
